Re: Dyna Rev limiter

Cheapest place to buy DRL300 in the UK is DynatekUk limited, who knew?
Its £179 but they have a 15% off discount on that.
You will get a receipt and of course a guarantee for this which you may not get elsewhere!!!

Re: Twisted but where?

Thats encouraging; either 28 or 29 degrees rake angle which i am sure is about right but i dont have numbers for the ST. The J's vary from 27 to 29 through the different model years so it looks like it was hit 'side on' and there is no significant frontal component to the damage. Be a shame to try y...

Re: Twisted but where?

Did you have a chance to measure the rake angle either direct off the headstock or from the fork legs?

Re: Twisted but where?

Have you come to any conclusions here or ideas' about where you are going to go with it? Al, I could get a measurement underneath the swingarm pivot and it was 0 but with the bracing and welds around the headstock I was't confident with the reliability. I did get 88 both sides which makes sense but ...

Re: Eddie Lawson Resto Mod

Clutch friction plate is in back to front, others also perhaps. Outer dished part of the sprocket lock mechanism is on back to front. It has a double hex which locks the head of the bolt. You can masking tape across the front face of the rotor drum after a good clean up and fill the gap with ordinar...

Re: Twisted but where?

Pete, what would be the angle of the top surface of the swingarm at the front pivot subtracted fomm the angle of the side of the headstock? Hopefully 90!!
You can use a say; inch square piece of wood to step off from the headstock.

Re: Twisted but where?

It was this one, dont know if thats different from the link you posted. I think they all do a similar thing. Mine is an Android phone. My mate uses a Wixey and swears by it, but i like the free-ness of the phone version :D https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plaincode.clinometer&hl...

CMSNL list some of the seals and 'O' rings so Zpower should also be able to get them. https://www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-kz1000e2-shaft-1980-canada_model15400/partslist/66540.html https://www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-kz1000e2-shaft-1980-canada_model15400/oil-seal-s-831009hs_920491034/ https://www.cmsnl.com/ka...

Re: Twisted but where?

Were you looking for wheel alignment as a priority? Yes, not fore and aft as its adjustable that way unlike the ST; vertically at the front wheel and vertically at the back wheel. I'm OCD with things like that and it was un-even so needed doing. The portapower exercise was to do with the fact that ...

Re: Twisted but where?

Hi, Pete i have straightened out two at home. Mine and an 1100R. I would offer caution when using the engine position as a datum for any measurements as neither of the two i mentioned where anywhere near correct when first measured. Dont know if it helps by i use the free clinometer app on my phone ...

Re: Z650 project

I think you did a great job Phil. If i had built something fresh there is no way i would have taken it straight out on track and thrashed it, particularly Cadwell which is a high tarrif circuit if something isnt just right! How was it with no back brake by the way? :D Could’nt catch Crosby on his th...

Re: Anyone running boyer ignition?

The cause was a new one to me and a little baffling. After swopping a parts bin oem coil the symptoms disappeared. It transpires that the coil fitted when bought round to me breaks down only on one side and only at certain revs. Took some finding! That was one, if not my only conclusion when lookin...

Re: Anyone running boyer ignition?

Yep, running the strobe from a remote (car) battery and tried it on 1&4 leads which gave the same result. Then on 2 & 3 leads which gave the same "misses". Haven't tried it with the arrow reversed though, but not sure it would change anything? Or would it? Have a look at the orien...

Re: Splitting Z1000J Crankcase

The 8mm bolts that join the front half of the crankcases together are made of finest bone china and would rather sanp than un-do. This is particularly true of the outer ones and specifically the left hand side ones. If they snap they usually snap flush which makes it a nightmare to get them out! A c...
