ELR head

I have refitted the head to my elr, there is a visible gap at the front and rear of the cam chain tunnel where the head gaskets do not cover,is this correct? The liners have been replaced and the top of the block skimmed,I did not notice this gap before stripping.. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/...

elr oil cooler lines

Am I right in saying that the left hand oil line goes to the left hand port of the manifold(as sitting on the bike) and the right oil line to the right side? Mine was set up left to right and right to left-seemed to work fine-I would assume it doesnt really matter as the oil can pass thru the oil co...

if you are going to run it it is definately worth adding a breather to the oil filler to see how it effects the crankcase pressure, run the end of it high with a filter on the end

2nd ring upside down could cause an oil consumption problem, but not the crankcase pressure problem. More likely is that that there is now too much piston to bore clearance (through over-honing), resulting in increased ‘blow by’ past the pistons and in turn pressurizing the crankcase, thus pump...

as far as the oil goes obviously make sure the oil level is not too high, should there be a small gauze type filter where the breather enters the air box? an increase in capacity will increase crankcase pressure, you could fit a breather to the oil filler.

good news from Debben, dont worry about your engine build not going quite as well as you had hoped,I am sure you learnt plenty from the process, and the rest of the bike is excellent

I thread one end into the groove, hold my thumb over that part and then push the remainder in with a small screwdriver, pop in easily
