Re: Z1000A1 float level?
Measure and set the float height as per manual and then check the actual fuel level. Set in between the lower and upper edge of the bowl as shown and you'll be good to go.
Re: Z1 4-4
Worth repairing as they would be worth around £3k in an as new condition. (repaired and rechromed).
Re: Z1 4-4
I'd say the main clue is the quality of the external welded seam. It's pretty scabby on the OEM ones and nice and neat on the repros. I was also thinking about the peat shooter baffles, but not sure if theses featured on the Z1a/b..

kev edwards wrote:I have no idea on that measurement, i have it in the factory manual, what it relates to is a mystery to me, but with the carbs inverted it should be around 24 mm from carb body to bottom of float, i always follow that with the clear tube method though.
+1 for that. the only way to do it properly.

Another vote for Dyna S. Fit and forget. Easier starting, better running and smoother.

Re: 1978 z650c
As you may know I organised a 'group buy' with Busso for their 4/2 for the z1000. Based on that exercise which took a year to complete, we found that Busso are plagued with quality issues and ineffective packing, meaning you have a 50/50 chance of being disappointed with your purchase and then deali...

Re: Z900 A4 carburettor body wanted
Maybe it would have been but someone in the past has already botched it up. I'm hoping I can get hold of a replacement carb or carb body, sort it once and for all. Nigel, did you have a spare carb? Cheers. I've got a full set of z900a4/5 carbs in decent shape and will be nice after a refurb. I also...

Re: Old Zed - Cyl head cracks worse than usual?
Noting to worry about. I've seen them get half way up the plug hole, but never beyond that. You can weld them up but it's not worth it IMHO.

Re: Z900 A4 carburettor body wanted
I've got quite few sets of 900a4 carbs. I might even have a body, will have to check.
