Every now and then I run a 'fluteless' tap down the holes, just to cold form any distortion back into the correct order. They are quite nippy Mick and you can open them up a long way between gear changes, but I may either put a larger front or smaller back sprocket on in the winter, but saying that it's not the type of bike to ride all day, puts a nice grin on my face just like the old thou, who knows I may invest in ...

What's the correct tool for the job?. I work in engineering. Have access to presses lathes etc but still can't get a clean purchase on the bearing to drift or press it out. If they have previously gone to 8mm, the two bolt holes in each cap that had dowels in originally I would make a shouldered insert with the dowel incorporated the bottom end being 10mm with a 6mm thread down through it, a few years ago I made a couple for MR PUFFIN on here and his bike is still goin...

It's a yes on that one, set head up on the bench with no valves in it, if cams turn freely with very little resistance you will be ok, if they bind swap a cap over you will get there.
