It was just the head made me wonder the earlier one had round cam covers

IMHO the grab rail with lugs is an abomination, a modification for some unknown legislative reason to the original vision, and should not even be fitted to Z900s and Z1000s both of which come with perfectly serviceable frame indicator mounts. The fact that Kawasaki continued to weld the frame mounts...

Some say it’s the best colour of all the Zeds... just a fact.

When did it last run? If the plugs are wet and it sparks it should at least fart... all this is assuming the cams are timed right. One would also hope there has been no fuel in it since the carbs were cleaned... also they don’t always clean first time. Have you tried new plugs?

Nobody was parallel importing Zeds in 1980 if you’ve owned it since then almost definitely it won’t have come from anywhere else than a UK dealer.

They’re all imports anyway...
