Re: Kophill climb
I'll be hoping to run my Z1-B up the hill as I did last year. I'll also hopefully be running the Ninja H2, which I've done for the last 6 years. Paul, do you want me to display/run the Z1-B through the club stand? The Ninja H2 has a separate display/run area usually based on the year of manufacture ...

Re: Checking timing with DTI
Many thanks Rob. I will use the DTI to at least confirm TDC. I also realised after posting that a graph of revs against piston distance before TDC would be a bit pointless, as the DTI might tend to poke a hole in the piston with the engine running. Doh! I will get a degree disc though just for peace...

Checking timing with DTI
I recently bought a DTI to check that the timing marks on my Z1-B are accurate before I make a final attempt to set the carb mixtures and sych before I decide enough is enough and hand it over to an expert to sort out (it's still not running well). However, I can't find any details of ignition advan...

Re: Z1B nearly finished
Is it me, or has someone filled in the "900" logo on the side panels with a pink magic marker?
BTW lovely Z1-B (and in the best colour of course )
And you're very brave moving it about without a front brake. I can just about wheel mine into the garage

Alton Station Cafe Bike Night ( GU34 2PZ)
I'll be there tonight (Weds) for a first visit on the Z1-B. Kicks off at about 17:00 I believe. Great venue and good food. Anyone else going?

Re: Z1-B resurrection after 43 years
Cheers Al. After 51 years on a bike I still believed that the condition of the porcelain was how you checked the mixture. Thanks for setting me right. Every day's a school day! Anyway, got the Z1-B to Chesham and back OK (actually managed to get up to a ton in a short burst) and it was happily cruis...

Re: Please don’t laugh 2…..
Great example of an absolute icon. Back in the day (early 70's) almost everyone in our bike club had a Cub of various flavours to potter around on, rather than ruin the exhausts on our big bikes with stupid little trips down the shops etc. Some were actually modified to run in the Club Trials every ...

Re: Polishing the investment bike club
We have the same issue with the ZRX Owners Club. Meetings advertised for months in advance and across many platforms. Attendance is usually down to a small group of regulars. People always moan about not knowing about events... Probably the same affliction I came across many times during my 10 year...

Re: Z1-B resurrection after 43 years
Newsflash! Burnt micro-fibre plastic comes off with the judicious use of a new Stanley blade and copious amounts of WD-40 as a lubricant. Still scratched the chrome a bit though. Anyone know how to remove fine scratches from headers? They're PMC Z900 BTW although Paul Scanlon has done some magic on ...

Re: Z1-B resurrection after 43 years
Took the Z1-B for a run to the Hampshire Biker Bastards Bike Night tonight, its first proper run (about 60 miles all told). I managed to get 80mph out of it on the M3 on the way home. It also chuntered along happily at 60mph on the A33/A30 into Basingstoke from Winchester. It still seems sluggish on...

Yes! Dyna actually sell copper cored leads for use with their coils.
Thanks Rob. I'm guessing they're low resistance?

Re: Z1-B resurrection after 43 years
Just installed the new shims and battened down the cam cover (with grease on the gasket :D ). On the subject of ignition primary side resistance I ran a meter from the crimp at the end of HT lead #1 to the plug cap connector on the plug side. Got 13.1 K/ohm! The plug cap measured 5.1 K/ohm which mea...
