As soon and if dvla smell something not quite right the bike will go to the local constabulary to be inspected and if found dodgy will be seized goodbye to lots of Wonga, and I suspect that's what happened to the bike that shared the same reg and frame number as my old thou.

Mark, when I first bought my thou it had a foobarred yoke and I could only get 650 yokes at the time but they touched the tank so I had to make a mod to the steering stops, hopefully you don't have to do this to yours.
