How do you repair / remove plugs / sockets from the coloured wiring connectors?

I had a look via search and can see where you can buy the crimp pins & sockets but does anyone know how to safely remove them from the coloured plugs? I've tried contact cleaner to try and make a better connection but waggling the plug makes the connection come & go. Update: Should have said...

Re: Yuasa Battery YB10L-A2 - Any Good?

Not sure the Z1 has the same size battery as the A4? Mine's a Z900 A4 with the long air intake pipe behind the airbox so the height will be restricted. I'll measure my battery space and report back.

Re: A4 Carb T-Pieces repair?

That's true but from what I read in another post they should swell again fairly quickly. My problem came when I took the carbs apart. The alternatives seem to be buying new or wrapping some ptfe around. PTFE tape is not soluble in petrol afaik (I read about it before trying) so should work ok but pe...

Re: Z900A4 Carbs

Interesting tip about removing the rubbers first, something that I've never done before on my A4 but will for sure try. About 10 years ago, I took the carbs off a few times within a month as I thought there was something wrong with them. I got to the point where I could get the carbs off & on wi...

Re: A4 Carb T-Pieces repair?

Worked a treat!
One of mine was quite loose, but after 35 mins as good as new.
I think the warning about no more than an hour is probably well worth remembering.

Re: Fuel Pipe - 6mm, 7mm or 8mm?

Thanks for the replies, I have some 6.3mm hose from another project that should do the trick. When I tried to push it over the tap barbs it was really tight so thought it best to ask first.

Re: Fuel Pipe - 6mm, 7mm or 8mm?

Arf :wink

I'll get the hot water ready for a bit of pipe stretching in that case. I'll be adding some in line filters this time as well so hopefully I won't have to wrestle with the tank or carb ends of the pipes more than once.

Fuel Pipe - 6mm, 7mm or 8mm?

Sorry for what might be a daft question but wondered what people are using for fuel pipe. The tank and carb barbs are about 8mm but I'm guessing that 8mm hose will be too big as it won't be stretch so that leaves 6mm or 7mm? 6mm is easy to find, but maybe too small?

Thanks

Tank Lacquer Restore?

The lacquer on my A4 tank has a few blisters and some has flaked off, plus a scratch. The paint & pinstripes look ok. There's no bare metal or primer showing through so I wondered if it's possible to repair the lacquer coat, either by adding polish or some new lacquer?

Re: A4 Carb T-Pieces repair?

Thanks folks, the PTFE was holding out but feel it would be better to have the tee making the seal on it's own. Seems that Wilko do a small bottle of thinners, so will go there tomorrow.

Re: A4 Carb T-Pieces repair?

Many thanks for the tip. I've put a couple of turns of ptfe tape around and that seems to have done the trick for now, but I like the idea of getting them to swell up so will try that out.

A4 Carb T-Pieces repair?

Hi, Just taken my carbs apart for cleaning and after putting back together, found one of the T-Pieces between the carbs has a leak. It's quite loose, but never leaked before and the bike has been stood dry for a couple of years so am wondering if it'll swell up again and seal as I read in another th...

Re: Yuasa Battery YB10L-A2 - Any Good?

Yeah, I wondered about the height too, seen both sizes advertised. Mine's a '76 A4, I'm away from home right now so can't be sure which battery size is correct. The Yuasa in the thread title is advertised at a reasonable price by Halfords, but looks like it'll need some acid at additional cost. Half...

Re: Yuasa Battery YB10L-A2 - Any Good?

I've had mixed experiences with Lead Acid batteries, I find that maintenance free LA batteries are normally ok. I have a Chinese LA battery that needs to be topped up on another bike, still working ok after 8 years. I agree that GEL or sealed batteries are the way to go. I have a sealed battery on a...

Yuasa Battery YB10L-A2 - Any Good?

I was thinking of getting one of these for my Z900 A4. Good price at Halfords and also Amazon. Looks like they need acid, but I've been told they're maintenance free?
