Re: ST recommission

Two more questions if I may? What are the 4 slide rod bushes in the linked ad? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kawasaki-Z-1000-ST-E1-Shaft-front-brake-caliper-seal-repair-rebuild-kit-1979-79-/151808385532?hash=item23587c21fc 2nd question, I don't seem to have the 'spacers' shown in the parts diagram (No....

Re: ST recommission

Right. A bitsa front end was grafted on. Just did a search on ebay for the fork seals without specifying the bike to see if that threw up any possibilities for the forks? The other bikes that use the same seals are, GPZ1000, Vmax and a Royal Ventura. Does anyone know the length of an ST fork inner? ...

Re: ST recommission

Thanks Philippe, both legs are identical. Here's a close up. The bronze sleeve is almost flush with the inner PICT0124.JPG PICT0125.JPG How long is the inner fork normally? I know it's been on it's side because I have a spare metal clock mount, the chrome ears for the headlight have been straightene...

Re: ST recommission

This is what I've got.... PICT0123.JPG The bottom piston is held within the fork inner. There is a bronze sleeve / clip at the base which I presume holds the two together. There is , what feels like a spring inside working in the same fashion as the original. It also states there should be a washer ...

Re: Hello all.

One other quick question. Is there a phosphor bronze(?) sleeve that acts as a guide for the fork leg? I remember changing te seals in the Zeph and it still leaked until I changed the worn sleeve (and another set of seals). I haven't got a manual or parts diagram as yet and haven't stripped them to s...

Re: Z1100R First Ride Problem

So the two differences between running and not are 'filling up' and 'tesco fuel'. I would go with the first. Squirting fuel in the tank has dislodged some crap that was already in there which has then fouled the carbs. Take the petrol tap off and see if the strainer is clean.

Re: Hello all.

You can move this this to technical if you prefer? Took the front end off. Master cylinder, fork seals...and also found a ratchet steering, so going to do the calipers and hoses as well. When I was in the UK I used M&P for most stuff. Not been there for a while, they used to mention brand names,...

Re: Hello all.

Thanks for the welcome, yes very heavy. Not the weight, about the same as my Zeph11 but the centre stand design is very different and makes it feel twice the weight! I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions.

Re: fuel tank - holes and rust

Thanks very much Philippe for that info and guidance. I'll have a look at those other sites. More sources the better. Is there any way to find out what colour the bike was when it came of the factory? My CG is the old style at the moment, with minimal information. It doesn't even state the engine nu...

Re: fuel tank - holes and rust

D&K's, that brings back memories, I remember going there about 30 years ago when they first set up as a breakers. I'm a bit farther away from there now. I will need to get another tank.

Re: fuel tank - holes and rust

That's lovely, not looking for mint, just want to get it operational and enjoy it for the moment, the prettiness, I hope, will come later.
