Are the casings from a Z900/1000 with Z1000J/R head fitted? What's swinging arm from? Looks pretty solid.

"One of the other things to look out for is.. Make damm sure the collets are NOT touching the back of the shim bucket, this has happened to a friends bike where someone ground far too much of the valve stem so none of it was protruding".

Clean off all of the silicon including the "extra" silicon from the engine casing and the grommet.
Buff up the rubber grommet with rough emery paper to provide a rough keyed surface.
Apply a little silicon, press fit to casing, apply new gasket with light smear of grease and there you go.
