Hi Gary
welcome to the club !
It's not easy to find a Z1 to restore.
Most of them are restored already and if they aren't they cost a lot of money!
But, never mind, just go for it!
Good luck
Greetings from Belgium
Philippe

Re: Restoration of a Gpz 750 R1 (1982)
Hi men thanks again! @ Mozeau : the "original exhaust pipes" serve now and then as a template to bend or shape metal...or perhaps I could also use them to act as a gun barrel when I'm restoring a tank or some other military machine in the future  :tooled who knows :D Grtz Philippe

Re: Restoration of a Gpz 750 R1 (1982)
Hi men
thanks for the compliments!
@ Deka: they're not new, they're second hand from Germany and they're not rechromed, because rechroming them black is the only way to let them look great again.

Re: Restoration of a Gpz 750 R1 (1982)
Hi men last monday the fork tubes were ready! Finally after 3 months. On his website the rechromer claims that it takes about 3 weeks...OK so far, so good. On tuesday I started the work at 07,15 hours and worked until 17,15 hours. This morning I gave the final touch and cleaned her up a bit. So she'...

Re: Paint and spraying methods
Hi Pete I prefer 2 K epoxy paint but you need to take precautions! A good breathing mask to protect your lungs is important! make sure that your compressor can provide enough air because painting a frame takes me about 1,5 hours. I use RAL 9005 black paint), with 80% gloss. You can buy the black pai...

Hi Pete
you did a great job !
I see you use the same tape as I do.
The paint will become harder when it's completely cured .
Keep up the good work!

Re: Saroléa 450 mono cylinder 1950.
Hello guys this morning the spokes for the front wheel arrived, finally ! They were mounted and afterwards, this afternoon, I mounted the tyre. Finally I could put her back on her wheels. Now it's only a matter of time before the second tin of paint is available. If the temperatures stay the way the...

Re: New member
Hi Zoso welcome to the club ! The ZX1100A (Gpz1100 UT) is a lot easier to work on compared to the Z1300. The only difficult things to find are the sleeves for the linkage system of the rear suspension. As Chris stated: show us some pictures of your pride and joy please, don't be shy. Greetings from ...

Re: Saroléa 450 mono cylinder 1950.
Hi men I'm back with some more news. Good and...bad. First of all @ Bill P and Peter K. :thanks for the compliments guys! Let's start with the good news: the rear wheel turned out to be OK after some gentle blows with a rubber hammer. The spokes run straight to the rim and I was able to get the whee...

Re: Saroléa 450 mono cylinder 1950.
Hi men more news about the Saroléa ! The engine was cleaned, painted and I mounted it in the frame on saturday. On sunday, I had a closer look at the bike and I noticed that I couldn't reach the bolt to change the position of the gearbox once the protection of the primary chain was on... I had a clo...

Re: Saroléa 450 mono cylinder 1950.
Hi guys @ David Z1R: thanks for the compliments! No NOS parts available, I have to do it with whatever I have, good or bad. Today I made progress in putting the Saroléa puzzle back together. I was able to mount the gear box in the frame but had to dismount the main stand because the bolt of the main...

Re: Saroléa 450 mono cylinder 1950.
Hi guys it's been a few days since my last post but here I am back with some news. I managed to paint most of the parts, OMG I never realised that there were so much parts that needed painting. It took me five paint sessions to get the job done so far. I have to wait for a new tin of paint because I...
