"yea connected the earth to the correct place,still no spark,there seems to be nothing to the coils,tried the old coils still no joy,connected a live straight to the live coil wires and still no spark,its got to be something simple,ive cleaned all the coloured plugs checked all connections"...

do u have 12v at coils? I don't have a multimeter,to check but I don't think so,also the earth wire which ataches to the little grill thing above battery on right sde gets warm. Do you mean above or below the battery? It sound like a combined regulator/rectifier. What bike is it on? Ultimately you ...

Thanks for the answers, calliper tight i.e. not floating?more copper slip required? Master cylinder filled to line only. The equipment is all original but rebuilt on a 73 Z1 including NOS M/cylinder.
