Re: Twisted but where?

Assuming i have understood youre plan i would say that there is next to zero chance of getting the outcome you need. If youre intending to strike the sacrificial 'slug' sideways i think it will bend the holding bolt first, bend the yolk centre tube / damage its thread and oval the headstock where th...

Re: Charging

For completness there is also the self generating CDI version STK 310 which is oddly cheaper for some reason https://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/STK-310.html#SID=942 and historically there has been this type of arrangement which you can still occassionally find https://phaseone.co.uk/for-sale/ ...

Re: Charging

If you are currently getting away with no alternator , total loss and swopping batteries between passes i think there is little advantage to fitting one of these except to keep sparks bright and on time which can be an issue with total loss. If you have the standard rotor and stator there are massiv...

Re: ART Pistons

Hi Dave, i have a set of ZX11 (unitrak and Z1100R etc. 18mm wrist pins) pistons here with 114 cast on the side and no oversize stamped into the top.
CMSNL shows 181 for both models. Dont think its a part number, more like a casting number for the blank.

Re: Hello to all - at last!!

INteresting mount for swinging arm wonder where it mounts on other side, would be hell of a wide arm and may have been for fitting rvery wide wheel and tyre for drag racing. Thats what i thought initially but found this which shows how the outriggers might look for the concentric swingarm pivot if ...

Re: Hello to all - at last!!

Welcome aboard zed9, youre five miles up the road from me. That TF frame is something else, he didnt hold back did he? Put me in mind of this which i tripped over recently. Though i am not sure i would like to see what happens with this in reality!!!

Re: Eddie Lawson Resto Mod

Any idea why someone cut the front face off the rear engine / swingarm mount bracket LHS? Seems a bit randon unless there was an outrigger support welded on there for the drive sprocket!

Re: Crank Services Recommendations

Gotcha, i have a Debben built crank; stripped, assembled, trued, polished, welded and balanced for sale but it is an 18mm smal end ZX11 version un-fortunately.

Re: Crank Services Recommendations

I think Dave Branch 07802874360 is still doing cranks of this type and of course Ray Debben still does them.
Which crank is it? 17mm small end as per z900 z1000 etc or 18mm small end, as in Unitrak ZX11?

Re: Throttle stop screw

Count the number of threads in a 10mm length. 20 threads in a 10mm length and its 0.5mm pitch. It looks that way from the photo. I would give it a good wire brushing first as running a die down it risks it becoming small and loose. Is it the screw or the nut / plate it turns into that is in need of ...

I'm probably wrong but i think this may be Johns' book. Perhaps he can confirm.

Re: Double the troublezz. AMA style Racecrafters Z1000 and Moriwaki Z1R Turbo.

With only 18 ft/lbs and a keyway broached in that original hub there should be zero chance of the hub getting taper lock on the crank nose. That should make the extracter threads redundant and a basic three (long bolt) puller like mine tapped into inboard holes on the flange more than adequate i wou...

Re: Double the troublezz. AMA style Racecrafters Z1000 and Moriwaki Z1R Turbo.

I made a three bolt extractor for mine but as you know i have the std. fully flanged hub from the original kit. If it wernt for the fact that weld is so hard to drill and tap, i'd suggest building up the three stubs between the mounting 'arms' and machining back, then drill and tap. I would not have...
