Great pics Paul, I agree with your statement about a more liberal attitued to events like this one over in Ireland. I have visited the Skerries road racing a couple of times in the past and thought that the attitude to 'spectator participation' was spot on. Where else would they let you stand so clo...

I had a red Puch MS50D in 1975 , real un-cool as the kids would say now. But when my mates and I were 17 and they were still paying off the HP on their Fizzies I had saved my cash and I bought a bronze red RD 250B, much to their annoyance.

Thanks for the comprehensive replies. I have been quoted £100 to have mine cleaned which I thought was okay until I read that once probably isn't enough. I have ordered a cleaner of the same value and hopefully this will do my two other projects as well. By the way Al, what a superb job you did the...

External cleaning of carbs

I was going to send my cv carbs off for vapour blasting and ultrasonic cleaning. I have since seen on here that some people have had carbs cleaned several times before their bikes ran okay (expensive). Any recommendations for cleaning mine both externally and internally myself? There used to be a mi...

OEM brake hoses

Hi, I'm after some used OEM rubber brake hoses for my Z1000J3 (all if possible). Rubber must be good, banjo ends I can re-zinc if needed. I have Goodridge at the moment but I am thinking of getting the stock look back. I know, that's a backward step I hear some saying, but if you can help... GPz1100...

Hey guys, you had me worried for a moment. Sidestand bracket is solid, as is the frame. I've owned bike from new and its done bugger all miles. Was stored inside for 17 years, and used in OZ before that so no road salt or months of damp roads to dissolve it. I see what you're saying but it looks no ...

Gents, I got the engine out yesterday mainly because I needed to touch up the powder coating on the frame. Would it be better to re-build the bike then do the top end (as suggested here) with the motor in the frame or would it be best to tackle it on the bench. Has anyone tried both and got a prefer...

Again, thanks to all for your help/advice. The company that did this were supposed to be 'bike sympathetic'. They also sprayed my tank and panels in the same job lot and they did a great job of those. Must have had YTS on the coating line the day I turned up?? By the way Garn, the company that did t...

Thanks for the help guys. I'll call the chemical strippers for a quote. If they cannot strip podwer I'll try the other method suggested here. The Frost liquid is reusable so I'll probably try that because as Garn has pointed out I foolishly had the yokes done as well and now I cannot get the forks l...

Getting rid of powder coating

Hi, Fork stanchions are off to Philpots this week so need to start re-building my front brakes. I had calipers and carriers powder coated, and to be honest it looks s**t. Way too much powder that makes them look like half sucked boiled sweets. All the fititng tolerances have been ruined so I'm going...
