Personally not had a set fail but have heard of some failing, usually with the white heat sink compound bleeding from the black sensor affected. That said, it's still rare

When did it last run? If the plugs are wet and it sparks it should at least fart... all this is assuming the cams are timed right. One would also hope there has been no fuel in it since the carbs were cleaned... also they don’t always clean first time. Have you tried new plugs? I don't know why but...

I use a blind bearing puller with a slide hammer, can loan it to you if needed
