Frame and black bits are back from the powder coaters today. It's hard to work with that lot sitting on my bench down stairs! http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff205/vduk/powder-coating.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff205/vduk/frame-from-coating.jpg All that you see was sand blasted and po...

Thanks for that Steve. Sounds ideal. Would you by any chance have any contact details so I too can get one?

Many thanks

Vehicle Wiring Products are great, but they don't have the required terminals. I recommend them strongly a...

Main loom multi block connectors

Any one know where I can get either the multi blocks (coloured jobs under LHS side panel on Z1000A1) or the terminals to go inside them. If the latter does anyone know the correct/possible with damage method for removing the terminals fromthe blocks(static) I have figured out how to get them out of ...

A thousand thanks Steve The shim arrived today; I and I have just made my measurements. Oddly all the shims smaller than 245 were all 235. I had a bit of a panic when I put a 250 in by mistake and couldn't get the 0.002" feeler in. I had the current bride on the phone at the time and fell into ...

I shod my old 1000A2 with F2 & R2 roadrunners and they were OK. My current 1000A1 came with TT100s and they are the most horrible tyres I have ridden on since my RD200 which came with Lien Shin, which felt like greased solid PTFE. Both tyres wree like new when I picked the bike up. After a coupl...

Ralph the club do an exchange shim service, and I think i've got a ground shim to 190 for sizing only, I could send you that if needed. Don't the club end up with lots of fat shims and no thin ones? As the bikes get older they surely need thinner shims. I would be very interested in this service th...

Hi Chris ... are they cheaper than ?6.85 though? I had an FJ 1100 for many years and it was a great bike. It's only Achilles heel was a lack of ground clearance - I reckon it was a few pounds lighter when I chopped it in for an EXUP  Because the engine was sooo well built despite spanking i...

Sadly I don't have a surface grinder, so my cheap lathe will have to do. Thinking about it, a 2mm slip guage would be fine for measuring ... not that I have one of those either! But it might be easier to mill a bit ol flat bar as a slip than bugger about trying to turn a piece of 36mm bar 2mm thick....

I think I'll machine a 2.00mm shim from mild steel to measure with. As Z-Power want ?6.85 / shim I don't want to buy any I don't necessarily want. This bike restoration has gone wildly over budget as it is!

Never had much to do with turbos. Nice to see one in bits. :D Steve R - the reason they are expensive to buy, is that for aftermarket bikes et al, they are relatively short production runs and, as has already been stated, they need to be made to a high level of precision and able to stand high tempe...

I know that if one has an external grinder in ones workshop it can be done ... but I don't. Actually I have some spare valves from the head that turned out to be a lemon that I got off flea-bay, so I could experiment with trying to clamp the dremel to the tool post of the lathe I spose, though I don...

Shimz

I have had new valve guides fitted to my head and the guy re-cut the seats while he was about it. the problem I now have is that he smallest shim I have is 2.45mm which is too big for three of the valves, so I am unable to determine what shims to order for these valves. :( I suspect that the valve s...
