Hi Tom dont laugh but this worked for me,an old pot filled with water on the cooker and bring to the boil,then place piston in pot with a bit of welding wire attached,leave to simmer for a couple of mins,then remove if your lucky the ring will have started to come out of the grove,if not gently ease...
