I checked my records and I actually have two high frame numbers 790 and 791 with HE engines 48x and 48x (two digits apart), both original UK bikes.
The rest of the frames are under or around 200, some under 100, the engines are under 200, most are between 10 and 100.

Not sure on that one, from memory all mine are low frame numbers pretty close to the engine numbers. The same H numbered frames were used on both HE and GE engine number bikes

I think Chrisu point proves my theory!, what kind of numbers are your German bikes? The Z1000G bikes have exactly the same GE number identity as the ones installed in the German bikes. I have tried unsuccessfully for years to get a clear picture of this. However, here is what i have figured out! Kawasaki made two versions of the 1980 Fuel injection. One for the European market called the Z1000H, and one for the US market called the Z1000G or Classic. Two completely different style...
