Re: Z1 1972 build date
Hi Tonka congratulations with your newest asset! I think your bike was build in the beginning of August '72. The carb balancer tubes should be in the head, not in the inlet rubbers. Get a copy of John Brookes' magnificent book: "Kawasaki Z1 & Z2 restorer's parts book" in order to do it...

Re: Z 1000 ST ELR
Hi men just a bit of explanation about the parts I made to fit the ST ELR. As I mentioned before I needed to change the lampears/brackets to get the rectangular headlamp in the correct position. I had to take care that the shell of the headlamp didn't touched the headstock when the handlebar was tur...

Re: Black Chrome
Hi Mark I think there's a dull part on the grab rail but I'm not sure about that, it could be the light reflecting less than on the other part. After all these people do the best they can, they try to make new out of old but they can't perform miracles! Anyway your parts are very usable. If you're n...

Re: Z 1000 ST ELR
Hi Mathh yes it's the one I bought from you! And yes I have enough parts by now allthough I bought another ST in France a few weeks ago. This time it's an E2 and she will be restored to original specs. So if you, or anyone else on here, can find a long rear plastic fender and/or an original exhaust ...

Z 1000 ST ELR
Hi men as promised I'm going to share the building of a Z1000 ST ELR. I bought a Z1000ST E1 in Holland a few months ago and started to prepare the restoration of it in July. At the beginning of August I bought a Z1000R ELR in France and decided after a few weeks to do that first. I was curious about...

Re: Z1 chain oiler and tank
Hi Z1B have a look at the website of classickawaparts in Holland. I copied the text : Olietankje voor de kettingsmering van de Z1 modellen Compleet met peilstok, bevestiging enz € 202,50 Olieankje ook apart leverbaar € 175,00 It means: oiltank for the lubrication of the chain of the Z1 models comes ...

Re: My Covid build
Hi McBoney well done for your first build, congratulations ! Not my cup of tea, I think it's sacrilege to change a classic Zed into a "bobber", but we can't all have the same opinion. Now and then I too change a classic Zed into something else but it happens very seldom. As a matter of fac...

Hi Alan she looks great to me ! I wouldn't strip her down to have the frame powder coated. The frame looks very nice to me so save yourself a lot of work and money. About the oil leak...it's common on those bikes, unfortunately. Change the gasket and the camshaft rubbers and when putting the camshaf...
