hi foz, I've got a spare z1000a battery box which may be of use (or not) I'll have a check of the part numbers.. i don't have a photo at the moment but there's a diagram showing it in bike help on Tibolts post which might be useful.. m

the bracket (above) is a z900 rhs item, the battery goes in from the side, with the side panel removed, then the bracket bolts on and is also a side panel mount. try cmsnl.com for diagrams of your 1000 battery box.
