Re: Longshot B25 / TR25 Starfire / Trophy frame forks ??
Sorted - now just need to sell the Z1000 to make room for the B a S t A rd as it has no father (as in engine numbers) and a frame with no paperwork.

Longshot B25 / TR25 Starfire / Trophy frame forks ??
Bit of a long shot but it appears that I may have acquired a grasstrack modified BSA B44 engine and I quite fancy getting it back on the road so if anyone has an old Starfire or Trophy rolling chassis kicking about there could be some beer tokens and Z parts waiting in exchange. - I'll post some pic...

Re: I love it when a plan comes together!
Sun's out so thought that I would get the girls out.
Got to ride all of them this week - albeit tentatively on the Z - Stripped and rebuilt the front calliper on the 400/4 today and what a difference that made. Fun Fun Fun.

You are sooo close to a deal - but I need pics - you understand I'm sure .. .. .. it's not that I'm fussy or anything it's just that I'd like to check the expiry date on the Wotsits.

Re: Z1000A1 - Basket Case Build
Full day today - fitted the carbs, airbox and silencer - sorted the exhaust and de-seized the seat catch although the lock barrel itself is toast. Re-bleed the front brakes and actually had a little ride up the lane. Surprised how small the bike feels. Possibly the shocks might be a little short. Sh...

Does anyone recognise this?
Hi all - had a pretty good day on the Z today - just fitting up a few bits and bobs in the leftover tin and I keep coming across this.
I'm guessing it's a lift handle but can't find any reference to it on the Z1000 - any suggestions where I might stick it? !!

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start
I wouldn't worry too much about originality when upgrading handling and braking performance but I can't really change the weight - without significant mods, frame, wheels etc, and then the 70-80 bhp becomes even more of a potent force. My prehistoric T140v might just make 45bhp, weighs in over 50kgs...

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start
No - you will regret it You are right Ade. I will, but there is something inside me that flicks the nutter switch every time I jump on one of my bikes. No matter how steady, laid back and mellow I start off on a ride I always seem to engage hooligan mode and whist I might get away with it on my RD2...

Re: I love it when a plan comes together!
Yesss - I now have only two Hodna's having sold my CB550K3 basket case tonight. Three more to go and I might treat myself to a T120 Bonny.

Re: Z1000a1 - not sure what I have or where to start
Hi Guy - thanks for checking it out - It's been fun 95 % finished now and, typically (for me) sidetracked by other projects. Pretty sure that I'm going to move her on now.

Re: Z1000A1 - Basket Case Build
Rear brake sorted - only took 3 days, half a litre of fluid and an acute case of RSI to bleed the sod through, BUT now I have a beautiful set of fully functional Powerhouse refurbed calipers. Idiot lights switched over - nice and easy - next stop is to try and sort out the mess that is my seat latch...

Re: I love it when a plan comes together!
That makes me feel loads better - I have three Hodnas, two Guzzi's, two Yams, two Kawasaki's, one Triumph, One Suzook, and a Mobylette. The Katana is going to replace my 12000 mile 650 Deauville runabout so that's going to be canned, the Moby is officially sold but the new owner has not picked it up...
