New seal fiitted, broom handle worked well(thanks to Pigford) used rounded end pinch bar which i covered with a piece of thick rubber car heater hose to stop damage to alloy on fork when levered old seal out.Thanks to all for their advice on this next job on Z1 b is to start to refit head to engine ...

If you can get to base of stud get a pair of Stillsons on shaft or if studs are scrap weld a nut a couple a inches from base this is a last resort though but gave found the extra heat if u arc weld sometimes helps but it may make stud brittle Cheers Pauljac47

Red x and soft rotary brass wire brush worked well ,a smear of vaseline around edge of piston stopped any crap going down bores it holds onto carbon when you turn engine over and piston goes down easily wiped out then with clean rag.......
