OK, I had a better look and you're right. One seat hinge has a piece curled to fit around & under the frame hinge, so it should stop the seat from going further. The part number in my A4 parts list is slightly different than the ebay part linked above. According to my list, the part is 53009-03...

My A4 has nothing on the frame to engage with that tag so the seat does just rest on the side panel. I think the stop is there as mentioned earlier to stop one of the pins coming out with the seat closed. Mine is exactly the same as the seat in the photo above, the 'stop' is just an extra piece hel...

you have 2 z1000 hinges, you need an a4/5 hinge with stop built in

I solved my issue by moving the rear seat hinge to the front and the front hinge to the rear. This stops the seat hitting the panel.
