Hi Weaver, When you look at the back of your carbs which ones do they look like? I was sold a set of Gpz750 carbs which are the ones with 2 holes. The ones with 4 holes are off a Z1100 and that is what the kit you have is for. The carbs with 2 holes which I think were fitted to the 1100R (perhaps so...

Cheers Steve,
Do the tops need changing? Is it the overflow system that connects between the 2 outer carbs? Could you put me in touch with the new owner so I could get some jet sizes / needle numbers ?
Cheers
Dave

z1100 carbs vs gpz750 carbs

Does anyone know if gpz750r1 cv carbs can successfully be dynojetted to be used on my gpz1100? I have recently bought a set of 750 carbs which when compared to the z1100 carbs are very different. They are both 34mm mikuni cv's. I dont want to spend £100 on the dynojet kit to find they are totally u...

Thank you both. I guess it's head off again. Never mind I will do it in the winter I am enjoying riding it too much to pull it to pieces just yet.

Many thanks for the positive responses. Although supportive of my endeavors in the shed my wife and daughters are not quite as enthusiastic as you lot are! Regarding the head gasket issue it's running an 1170 bore so I put on the cometic gasket and sealant in the space around the cam tunnel, I had t...

Done a few miles in between the rain and got one of the last bits that I have been waiting for. I persuaded Norman Hyde to make me a black chrome Harris pipe. Apparently the finish used to cause lots of issues so I had to agree that I took it however it came out. I have to say it looks very good and...

cv carbs

Has any one got a good set of 34mm mikuni cv carbs? Not the ones off the 1000j with the run on diaphragm (or whatever it is) but fitted to 1000/1100R, 1100 shaft and some 1000j's. Failing that a nice set off 33mm smoothbores?

As a new member of this forum I don't know any of you yet so I am going to try and pop down from Bath this evening (Friday) to say hello (if I can get the bike started). Wont be staying for the weekend as I am off on holiday with the family first thing tomorrow.
Have a good weekend

I am nearly deaf these days so I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. I made a baffle out of 15mm tube, a big washer and some insulation borrowed from the loft all strapped together with wire and then shoved up the the silencer from the front. It reduced the noise to that emitted by a ni...

That's a very kind offer which I will one day take you up on. Not as soon as I would like as the lovely man doing the MOT took it on himself to fail my bike for 'exhaust noise clearly in excess of that emitted by a similar motor bicycle with a standard silencer in average condition' Come the revolut...

Thanks all for the positive comments. Its booked in tomorrow for the MOT but there are a few teething problems to be sorted, brakes are rubbish but should just need bedding in and the battery is not really up to starting it. I need to get some local miles on it before I can check everything and get ...

http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii548/pluto12341/IMG_0183.jpg Next installment; time to rebuild the engine in my shed. I have found a replacement engine cheap with a good cylinder head. I reground all the valves, had it refaced and popped in some new stem seals and helicoiled a few dodgy thread...

Cheers for the responses, the bike is nearly back together - a lot of the work on the engine was done in my shed at night during this winter and my phone didn't have a flash on it so photos of that bit of the resto are limited. I will post what I've got in the next few days.
