Re: ds2-1 electronic ignition on fleabay

I'll give them a go then. Hadn't seen the coil copies before although i've used some non OE coils from Legend which work fine and if anything, are easier to use as they're slimmer with more space between the terminals.

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2022. 22nd May.

Sun's out! I took part in the DGR last May with around 25 other bikes in Nottingham. Good ride out with great people. Definitely going to do it again this year on Sunday 22nd May. For my area the ride this year will be in Derbyshire. It'd be great to meet up with fellow zedheads whilst making a few ...

ds2-1 electronic ignition on fleabay

Good afternoon everyone.
Anyone used the ds2-1 ignition plates on sale from various ebay sellers. Looks to be a chinese copy of a dynatek one but at a cost of only £60.

Re: Mikuni RS, Keihin CR or FCR, gas flowing ?

So how much does gas flowing cost and who do the members here have good experiences with? I've decided to replace the Norris cams with a nice stock pair from D&K, bought a replacement set of barrels from them too and had them bored out to use the 73mm Wisecos, which cleaned up really well. I was...

Which head gasket for 1105cc pistons?

Hello all. Just rebuilding a Z1000A1 engine which has a 73mm Wiseco piston kit. Rather than buy (and wait for) a Wiseco one piece head gasket like the one I found when I stripped it, I'm assuming I could just use a couple of standard 1100 gaskets. Anyone like to weigh in with their experience on thi...

Re: Z1000 frame or rolling chassis

Hello Peter I have a Z1000A1 frame that i've not got round to doing anything with. It doesn't have a V5 but it does come with a verified dating certificate showing it to be from April '77. It is in genuinely first rate condition and came to me freshly painted literally ready to bolt an engine into. ...

knackered cylinder liners?

Hello guys
I'm after two z1000 cylinder liners. Condition unimportant as they'll get bored out so an old water damaged set of barrels or tired liners will do me just fine.
Thanks.

Mikuni RS, Keihin CR or FCR, gas flowing ?

I know this has been covered many times but i reckon quite a few folks (such as myself) could benefit from your trials/errors/successes. What is the most cost effective way to some more power? I'm building up a spare Z1000A1 engine which has 73mm Wiseco's (1100cc) but standard valves and head. It ha...

Re: Nottingham - Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

The DGR ride went really well. My photo taking skills have let me down though sadly. There were around 25 bikes out with us, virtually all the riders had made a great effort with tweed suits, ties, even waxed moustaches on a few! We started off at Long Eaton Triumph with about ten riders, first stop...

Nottingham - Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

Morning all. I wondered if anyone is doing the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride this Sunday 23rd May? For those who aren't aware, there are rides pretty much everywhere on the day, both around the UK and globally, raising money and awareness for Prostate Cancer and Mens Mental Health charities. I'll b...

Re: rearset footpegs

Update coming soon.
Having taken on board your comments, I've made a few tweaks and will be re-sending the files to the manufacturers. I've found a company in Germany who seem good.
Watch this space.
Chris.

Re: Crankshaft damage - advice needed.

My crank has the M8 bolt and I had a problem with the rotor coming loose. Your damage may have been caused by running the bike after the rotor was loose allowing the woodruff to move and elongate it's slot, eventually failing. Mine sheared the key in two, luckily I caught it in time. Mine had also h...

Re: rearset footpegs

A brief update for anyone interested. I've sent files to a number of CNC firms in the UK, Germany and China and am getting some answers and some questions back. I'm just refining what I expect will be the finished designs now. I'm still open to constructive criticism on here so feel free. At the mom...

Re: rearset footpegs

Hello Phil, thanks. No, for simplicity I've used a pressure switch. There is a tang coming off the inside of the brake lever which passes under the backing plate, used as a return spring locator and height adjuster which could be used to pull the standard brake light switch. I should have some costi...
