Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Neil I will digest that in more detail once I have the engine in place , thank you for that level of detail as it’s very helpful, currently (no pun) going some spindles and nuts in the zinc and nickel jam jar , I would normally send stuff away but for this amount I don’t mind having a go , all the g...

Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Re: locking bolt on rotor

The mini discs supplied with the dremel 3000 cut a perfect gap of about 1mm between the bolt and face , sacrificing the bolt , but pennies , I also had an engine sprocket nut which was in place for 30 yrs and a 3ft tourque bar wouldn’t shift , even with a little local heat , had to watch oilseal, ju...

Re: locking bolt on rotor

z1000j locking bolt on rotor left hand thread? If it really won’t move what I have done successfully is to put a mini thin grind disc on a dremel and cut a groove 360 deg between the face of the nut /bolt and the part that’s held on, this realeases the tension and stress on the threads as there is ...

Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Next stage , I was going to put the frame over the engine but think I will complete rolling chassis next , a lot of fasteners and plates to sort out first so will take a minute or 2 Put the original paint work on the frame just to see contrast with polished work , the frame certainly brings it back ...

Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

, Bit of a break in work , but stole some time , after 4 paint strips and 7 hours machine polishing is now helping to return the frame to a decent state, there are a couple of areas I will touch up the nickel with a wand plate kit , notably where the hole from the side stand has been plated over I t...

Re: kawasaki h2c wanted

No it has the 750 front end , Rick did know the bike , don’t know if he did the engine work but doubt he would leave it at 180+psi on each cylinder , it was a rocket when cold , but did get hot and bothered , I checked everything eventually reading the work shop manual when it mentioned excessive co...
