Who said you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear,LOL! Amazing transformation. Did you replate the engine bolts or are they now stainless? Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Good news - I think the F flow is more than enough for this engine , serious use- , lets say respectful road use now given its age and rarity (and my age!), point taken though and I can see the difference in the plates. At this point the level of use its had over 8k miles has obviously been easy - e...

Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Will

looking at the turbo wheels in the prototype rebuild manual , this looks like the same A flow turbine?
certainly not the smaller turbine, this wheel has the extension to the blade before it folds over which I dont think the smaller turbine has ?

Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Will you are a mine of information !, with respect to the engine mods what I will do at this point is get the bike running and presentable, it has been together for 40 years or so in its current form , but any serious use may entail the top end work and other works inc ignition - TBH that is a job f...

The bit where the weld is being cut was ok aft...

Re: S&S Silver Saxon #8

Yes the top end of the Engine is standard pistons , all the standard versions used them , bored to 1000cc, set to 5psi or so to give a claimed 160hp. I suppose S&S destructed the prototype as much to understand what it would take as they were to continue building these as production bikes ? Z1r ...

They have stampings on with Z1/Z2 something or other and are painted over the weld where they join the silencers , are these more or less restrictive than the later ones and much different to the ones that came off. Read loads about baffles etc and still not clear. Regards. I have a set of Original...
