Re: Carb queery

That description is a bit confusing, but reading it I was thinking much the same. There is ONE fuel feed which is in the centre of the bank of carbs. It should be a larger feed. There are two breather feeds, one each between 1and2 and 3and4. they just vent to air, or into the airbox as you wish. The...

Re: spark plug query

It should not be fouling up. You might want to check your fueling and carb settings

Re: Speedo accuracy

It is likely a vibration issue, given it increases to silly levels when the motor is revving hard. Check the mounting pads are good and that the mountings are not overtightened.

Re: fuel tank

Before you leap to just the one answer, there are a number of things it could be, and none of them are necessarily obviously visible: Twisted frame/headstock Twisted yokes Wrong front end altogether ? Worn steering stops Wrong bottom yoke Wrong fuel tank Badly mounted fuel tank and likely several mo...

Re: Brake squealing

Brake squeal is always down to the pads vibrating in the caliper.

Usually caused by old pads, sticking pistons, occasionally a warped disc. It's nearly always a simple fix.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

Buy the largest one you can find. I have one of these but it is barely large enough and its supposedly nearly 3 litres. I can get two carbs in, but it makes life easier if you can get a whole bank in there. The larger ones tend to run for longer too. Mine runs for 8 minutes max, but it might take an...

Re: vacuum tap issue

I would suspect there was an issue. None of my bikes flows on reserve unless the motor is running. They should not free flow on anything but Prime on a vac tap.

Re: Stick coils

Most stick coils are designed to run in conjunction with electronic ignition. They depend on the current supplied to fire them correctly and the resistance is usually different to the Z OE coils. You could fit them on stock ignition, but even with aftermarket stuff you'd need to check the parameters...

Re: vacuum tap issue

Reserve DOES run on vacuum, (otherwise there would be no point in having a prime function). If anyone's tap IS running free on reserve - they have an issue with the tap diaphragm. You should be able to pull the fuel hose off the tap with no leaks from the tap in any position bar Prime. Dont believe ...

Re: ZRX 1200R Meets Z900 RS Cafe

Performance and speed is largely irrelevant seeing we dont ride on the track all the time and going much above the limits gets you banned in short order. The RS is just fugly, it is neither one thing nor another. It is a cheap motorcycle at circa £10K but that shows in the styling and bits used in t...

With respect guys, it doesn't matter if anyone else does not "get it". It does not matter about value either. If the OP wants to street fighter a Z1000A1 that's his choice.

Good luck in your search Paul

Re: newer 'old' bikes

Great looking bikes.
I reckon they will become classics in their own right (in fact they already are doing so). Some of those replica's are stunning. They are far more convincing than the weak efforts recently produced by Kawasaki with the RS and it's brother.
