zx9r 'b' model usd's are the ones to go for regarding length as they have about 50mm or so protuding above the top yoke for the clip on bars to clamp to. When you fit risers to the top yoke for normal bars the forks are then dropped that 50mm or so and you end up with a front end that is very close ...

DON'T use the 'J' pistons in a std early Z motor coz the gudgeon pin is located lower in the piston to compensate for the J's shorter conrods. You will smash the hell out of the valves etc unless you fit a barrel spacer to compensate, which is a no no if you really want to keep the bike std looking,...

I'm running two engines with 1075 wiseco's and they are running sweet and clean. Never heard of this problem with wiseco's and i've been around bike's a long time but i suppose if the borers don't do an accurate job then that wouldn't help. P.S when you get the barrels bored stick stricktly to the b...

Hi.I,m using a wiseco 10.25 - 1075 kit and run std unleaded no probs although i do prefer to use the 97 octane. If you go to gremlin racing you can get a 1075 kit for a z900 for a bargain ?299 delivered. These z9 kits are exactly the same as the thou kit except you also get a set of std 70mm z1000 l...

Hi. Andy.Sent you some pic's via email ok. Not had the Z dyno'd but you need at least 120 bhp to see over 150mph so i must be well over that.Would you believe that it is my only transport (proper biker me) so it won't be going to extremes with the tuning as i want to maintain some reliability althou...

Hi Andy. I went on to geep head coz it's the next logical step and just because i could. Not noticed much improvement over my old set up yet as i've had to revert to std cams coz of a ** up with refurbing my race cam's hence my ad in the wanted section.I don't expect too much of an improvement yet o...

Hi. andy. Have done this same conversion to my own Wakisaki Z1R streetfighter earlier this year. It is no big deal fitting the head as it bolts straight on.You just need the APE idler wheel converter and the drilling jig + some minor milling done to square up the camchain tunnel in the head where th...

I've had this problem nearly every time i've fitted a new set of float bowl gaskets(especially with pattern gaskets) or recommissioned a set of dry carbs. Seems the dry gaskets act as a wick, soaking up the fuel and weeping it out to the outside. Eventually the gaskets seem to seal themselves after ...

Probably just crap that's settled in the tank over winter floating about in the fuel and getting in to the pilot circuit intermitently.(Are you running an in-line filter) no point trying other carbs, just blow out your jets with the air line that should do the trick. As for cyl's 1 and 4, if you sto...

I have several sets of 'Z' carbs 26mm and 28mm,And some (With the superior pilot circuit) have fuel enrichener screws on the under side near the float bowl and some have mixture (air) screws on the side. And the only way to tell what venturi size they are other than visual comparison or experience i...
