Re: Z900 A4 Strange gearbox issue, anyone help?
If memory serves, the round plate in the end of the selector drum ( the one with the raised dimple which triggers the neutral switch) sits on top of 5 or 6 posts, and is held on by a crosshead screw ( I think). Re: First ride
worth cleaning the carbs out and checking the passages/ pilot airways and making sure all carbs are set up the same (airscrew settings/ jet sizes pilot and main)/ float heights/ clip positions and check ignition timing and whether the advance/ retard unit is advancing when it should ( weak springs w...

Re: Fork Stanchions rechrome or new.
I've used Philpott's several times with good results. Also used HCPG (Hard Chrome Plating & Grinding) in Nottingham - their work on my z900 forks ( done 1988 and 60,000 miles ago ) is still unmarked

Yoshimura road pistons and barrels
Picked these up 10 years ago , thinking to make some kind of hot Zed engine that didn't materialise. There is a set of blasted 903cc barrels, bored out to take Yoshimura 69mm bore pistons - used but these have little sign of blow-by. The pistons have top and bottom compression rings, and an oil scra...

there's a z650 one on ebay at present £25, looks to be pretty similar to my z900 one which should be the same as your z1000 one

my z9 doesn't have it and it's pretty similar to a z1000. Some KHs have them and I was always jealous of it.

Re: Oil Pump Main Gear Play
do you mean the oil pump drive gear has slack on its shaft ( maybe caused by wear in the locating pin or its recess in the gear itself) or do you mean there is excessive lash between the drive gear and what drives it - the gear on the crank? A small amount of lash would be normal I suppose. There ar...

My speedo face showed similar scratches then fractured in 2 - presumably vibration stress fracture. Sent it to Peter Bond who fixed and refurbished it.

Re: Z650 rear shocks
Nice one. I was going to suggest put the 500's Konis on the 650 , and vice versa , as a quick cheap temporary fix to try.
