Re: J - Refresh
Things have moved along a bit. Lockdown is back but the garage is cold and anyway things are very busy at work. The bike is up on the bench in a very crowded garage so it’s mainly the right hand side that is getting attention. I assembled and painted the footrest hanger. What a PITA trying to fill t...

Re: J - Refresh
I had a message from Buzzard today that he has stripped the engine in readiness to take to R D Cox for blast and paint.
The sump is always a good place to look for signs of your engines health. He said it looked pretty good.

Re: J - Refresh
More paint trials and tribulations. Back in the summer I started to paint the calipers. When I stripped them back I made a very careful note of the finish which was, to say the least, tenacious but also not a bright satin. So many restorations I have seen get this colour either too bright or too thi...
Re: Mikey
I’ve just had some done by him.
Perhaps he’s busy, he’ll get in touch soon I’m sure.

Re: J - Refresh
Thanks Al. I’ve read your thread many times and will do so again but was hoping not to go the emulators route. I’ll not be racing it but any improvement over stock I can make will be good.
Someone posted about the lower bushes on arsebook a while ago so I got them ordered straight away.

Re: J - Refresh
Thanks for the positive comments. Phillips, you put me to shame with your work rate :) One of the most dangerous things I possess is a parts book. I had some time Friday morning so had a leaf through, £200 later I have some either very small or hidden pieces in my stock. After a very busy week, apar...

Re: J - Refresh
I have a lot to update here but it's rather like juggling cats at the moment. So many things are in progress, part completed or being stocked in readiness for the right time it's doing my head in. Painting of the major components is complete and the bike is up on 2 wheels. BunnysZ came over and assi...

When I had mine done, black anodised yes, I was warned about the process possibly damaging the alloy.
It did create a small cavity but was well down below the seals. Be aware.

Re: Z1000A1 Float Bowl Drain Screws
I had similar problems. I did have one float bowl that needed replacing but maybe it’s your screws themselves.

Re: Z1100R running problem
Good news Dave.
When doing mine I had two IC igniters to choose from. Both were slightly under the resistance readings stated in the manual.
That’s when I gave up and got a dyna. Hope yours is within tolerance though.
