Re: Restoration of a Z1000H (God help me please)

Hi Z1streetfighter71

you asked for it, you'll get it !
I'll start a new subject in "the bottom shed" and if the admin doesn't agree he can place it somewhere else or delete it if it's not suited.

Re: Restoration of a Z1000H (God help me please)

Hi guys I know it's been a while since my last update...not much news. I'm waiting for the parts to be rechromed, I don't hear anything from the rechromer allthough I tried to reach him a few times. Perhaps next week I'll try to phone him again. In the mean time I started another project...it's on 4...

Re: Original Finish on rear axle, swing arm ,engine mounts

Hi z2.John

I'm glad you confirm my thoughts. All the Z bikes I have, have a chromed swing arm nut.
I was afraid that I was wrong all the time.
Only the Z1000H has a zinc plated swing arm nut.

Re: Original Finish on rear axle, swing arm ,engine mounts

Hi

I think that the swing arm nut ( the big one that sits on the left hand side of the frame) was chromed...correct me if I'm wrong please.

Re: Valve Clearance Queries

Hi Warren I've never experienced that the intake valves close up faster. Once the clearance is set correctly for all the valves, it stays good for a long time... perhaps because I almost never let the revs go higher than 5000 RPM and I always ride in a very cautious manner. I've always been told tha...

Re: Valve Clearance Queries

Hi Andy I always take a clearance between 0,05 and 0,1 for the intake valves (closer to 0,1 or a bit more if possible) and between 0,1 and 0,15 for the exhaust valves( closer to 0,15 or a bit more if possible). The exhaust valves get hotter , the intake valves stay cooler due to the passage of the f...
