Re: How much?!!!

Well I phoned Peter James after the online quote service failed because I marked down my twin disc set-up as a mod. Got through to the traders section as the classic bike section was busy. Very helpful chap took my phone number and said he would get the message to them and they would call back when ...

How much?!!!

Bennetts have decided to increase my insurance on the Z1-B by 118% over last year. Obviously the rise in the cost of diesel for the CEO's superyacht is taking its toll. I've had a quote from Footman James which is £100 less than Bennetts but that's still nearly 40% more than I paid last year. I've s...

Re: Z1 spanners

If you're not desperate for the "original" originals, Z-power do a 8/10mm spanner.

Re: Z1 900 carb parts.

There's a huge amount of advice (not all correct so be careful) on the interweb and nudetoob but this forum should be your first stop for advice as there are guys on here who eat, drink and sleep Zeds. If you want to get into them properly then I'd recommend a couple of books to kick off with, namel...

Re: Z1 900 carb parts.

There are some expert guys on here who will be able to help you with this type of query but I'm not one of them.

I'm sure there'll be some good advice along shortly.

Good luck with the project.

Re: Z1 900 carb parts.

Not sure what you mean by bleed pipe (others on here may be familiar with the term) but you need to identify the carb first. Z900 used 26mm carbs but Z1-A and Z1-B used 28mm. There were 4 variations of carb used on the Z1's and you can ID which you have by looking on the engine flange (see pic showi...

Re: Rubber Bits

Wow! I didn't know we had slipper clutches on the 70's Zeds. I've got one on my ZX1000 (NGF) but that bloody needs it.

Re: Z900 50th Anniversary Edition

So for a 50th anniversary tribute to the Z1 they offer a bike painted in Firecracker Red as a tribute to the "1980's Z-GP bikes" (from Colchester Kawasaki ad blurb).

Am I missing something here?

Re: Checking timing with DTI

Further to this, is there a preference for setting carb mixtures before synching or vice versa, and is there a reason for doing it in a particular order? On another matter, whilst looking for my tyre pressure gauge in the garage I came across something I thought I'd lost years ago (see pic). This is...
