Piston rings

Could someone let me know please
Is there and physical difference between the first and second rings on z series piston rings and is there a right way up to fit them
They seem to be the same dimensionally and interchangeable but I would like to be sure

wheels trued up and assembled ...I used the same finish on the brake plate ( vapour and laquer )

I think it looks quite smart now

Laced up the wheels with some after market rims .... I do have some original coded ones but the costs are getting away from me

Trueing them up and watching telly ....... very relaxing

Good progress today .... bottom half of engine fitted , swing arm bushed and fitted , shocks on , forks and yokes etc in Fitted the rear guard but forgot to fit the seat lock so had to take it all off again and do that , healamp bucket and indicator stems along with battery box etc Made another list...

IMHO the grab rail with lugs is an abomination, a modification for some unknown legislative reason to the original vision, and should not even be fitted to Z900s and Z1000s both of which come with perfectly serviceable frame indicator mounts. The fact that Kawasaki continued to weld the frame mount...

You managed to get a long mudguard and a UK grab rail so good start, I need both them if you have a contact :D :D :D or want to sell them :oops: :oops: There is some confusion if the Z1b had the Uk style grab rail ......fortunately the bike had the Uk spec bottom yoke I thought it was only fitted o...

There is some confusion if the Z1b had the Uk style grab rail ......fortunately the bike had the Uk spec bottom yoke

frame was 3 degrees out from vertical .....now back to stock spec ...

As the bike had been sitting since at least 1989 in the same garage Im assuming its a UK bike so I will try and get as close as I can to Uk / Euro spec

went shopping for parts and found some forks , wheels , tank etc , had some vapour blasting done and sent the frame off for checking ....... spent a fortune at ZPower but wont bore you with the parts list .....suffice to say it was extensive and expensive Got the frame back from Triple S powder coat...

Clocks are z650 , seat is z1000 the more I got into it the more depressing it got but then I sold all the bits I didn't need for more than the purchase price so things started to look up
