I've got RS38 flat slides on my Z1100R (which is a Unitrac engine) with the standard air box. It's also 1170cc. Al (Zorded) has a 1000J with Gpz cams, 1170cc, air box and RS34's. Massive improvement over the CV carbs - 20hp and instant throttle response. Open carbs gave another 10hp or so but only a...

Good to meet everyone. Shame it wasn't the weather for sitting around the BBQ in the evening but at least the track was dry. I'm sure I'll forget everyone's name next time we meet but if I call everyone Rob I've reckon got a 50% chance of getting it right. A couple of photos from the day. Leading th...

Gpz 1100 head gasket

Anyone in the Hampshire Berkshire area got a GPZ 1100 head gasket I can buy?
Need one urgently and no one has them in stock. Not even Debben.

Only took one video on the day. Running without an alternator this year, which gives the advantage of making the bike rev quicker. On a negative side, I couldn't run my heated grips and I could have done with them on the day. It was still only about 6 Celcius on the first session. https://www.youtub...

Just some useful info for anyone else, you can use a 530 pitch ZX10 (1988-90) front sprocket. This has the same spline to fit the Z1000J/R and 1100/R/GPz. It will give a 6.3mm offset but you can still put a 3mm washer behind it to give 10mm (3/8 inch) offset. Sprocket ref is JTF527. Available in 16 ...

I'm booked for both Anglesey and Cadwell. No doubt Snetterton as well when bookings are released. Anglesey is a long way from me but a lot closer than Spa which is also on the CBT lineup. It looks an exciting track and a good weekend with all the other events on. Martin, I’m glad you've got all th...

The US superbike racing was always limited on what they could do under the rules. The frame geometry couldn't be changed. They all cheated a bit, Suzuki the most apparently. I'm sure I read somewhere that the GPZ750 was Rainey's favourite bike ever as it handled so well (but probably only compared t...

Al, I suspect most modern have geometry to radical. What about comparing/copying a ZRX1100? It's a more modern take on the J with pretty much the same layout and weight. I've just come back from the US after riding one 2000 miles round the twisty roads of North Carolina and Virginia. It's still a he...

Thanks. Have heard of Electrex but thought the starter had to be dumped.
Something to look into over the winter.

Beautiful bikes. Though don't think you've really put much thought into how you're going to fit panniers and luggage racks! :D Where did you get the narrow alternator? I do track days on my Z1100R and the standard one gives ground clearance problems but I want to keep an alternator and starter for r...

I've reloaded the videos on Youtube as they were running slow. Reducing the framerate changed the speed - that's why I had difficulty uploading my first video. A 14 min clip became almost 18 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsPfovKuwW0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdjz0zGblQ8 https://www....

Al, uploaded your second video but then realised that I had processed the wrong file and ended up with two identical ones on there. Will try again later in the week. One of my videos. Not so interesting as there aren't many other bikes on track. Only used the camera on the the last sessions and trie...

Just read my post.
Second line should be a passion for older bikes not bikers!
Not everyone was that passionate in the shower block!

Great weekend. Laid back atmosphere for a track day, wonderful bike candy. Thanks to the organizers. Great that there are guys out there that have a passion for older bikers. Thanks to my personal trainers Martin and Rob W: I'd never before thought of pushing old bikes as a work out. Special thanks ...
