Re: Clock top removal
You can't. The band has to be cut off and it needs a pro tool to fit a new one without it showing. You can buy chrome top clock covers that fit over the top though.

Re: Champion Copper core plugs
well we've been told now haven't we :) ive run both and like the N3c and have also run thousands of trouble free miles on them to some its preference nothing else , Norton Commandos have always run better on these and are recommended so i guess they must all be covering up faults that the foolish o...

Re: Champion Copper core plugs
Having sold and fitted countless numbers of both brands for cars and for motorcycles since 1976 - Champion are NOT better than NGK (in the Japanese motorcycle market) ... it's that simple. They are useful on old Brit stuff where they run temperamentally for endless reasons and NGK's would just foul ...

Re: REV counter
The originals in good condition are out there and if you look hard enough and get lucky you need not pay big bucks. I found a mint MPH speedo in Germany of all places with just 8K on the trip. It looks and works perfect. Its not even got the common orange fading issue on the clock needle. It wasn't ...

Re: Champion Copper core plugs
I don't want to sound clever or owt, but if you think you're having carb issues, why not sort the carb issues? Exactly this ^^ Champion plugs may mask (not cure) the problem as they run on a wider heat range than NGK's do. Good for problematic motors, not so good if you want engine efficiency. Usin...

Re: Standard clocks
You actually have two problems there, and both are a nightmare. One is getting a feed from a speedo sensor which would either mount and feed from the gearbox sprocket which you would need to cobble together probably from another model, or maybe use a magnet and sensor type arrangement on a wheel, bu...

Re: REV counter
Those aftermarket speedo and tacho's that are available commonly can be absolutely miles out. According to my Z650 tach, its idling at 2000 rpm ! If I connect up a calibrated tacho, it shows the correct engine speed which is just over half that  The speedo is no better - it massively over-read...

Re: REX Mirrors.
DAEG mirrors may look cool, but they are fortunes. One on Ebay now is over 200 quid and thats without import duty :) The JMP ones on Ebay look OK, but I dont know anyone that has used 'em. I have genuine mirrors on mine and usually prefer to stick with OEM cos they dont vibrate like (most) aftermark...

Re: Z650F3 running poorly despite lots of attention!
If you or someone else has sprayed carb cleaner in the vicinity of those diaphragms, it will cause them to "grow". If you do use carb cleaner, never get it anywhere near diaphragms. It ruins them.

Re: Z650F3 running poorly despite lots of attention!
I have never been a big fan of CV carbs. They are OK on newer bikes but once they have a few years and some wear and tear they can be hard to set up. The earlier 650's had VM24 carbs, you will find those around, although they will likely need a strip and rebuild too. You will then have a problem as ...
