What are your airscrews set to? Most references I've seen say 1 & 1/2 out from lightly seated but every a4 I've set up with colour tune burns the best colour at 3/4 out from lightly seated. Assuming stock jetting etc. 1 & 1/2 out means they are very lean at low revs. What plug colour do you ...

If its running at all the tank/tap must be supplying fuel so carbs, either bad clean job or need setting up properly.

Welcome, one possible cause is weak spark. Have you checked the voltage at the coils? The kill switch and 40+ plus yo wiring loom and connectors are possible causes for low voltage at the coils causing a weak spark and black plugs.

What oil is in it? Needs to be compatible with motorcycle wet clutch. Having said that I would expect the opposite if it was a oil issue, slipping when hot, but you never know? I use good ol mineral 20/50 in all mine and just change it at least once a year. None of this semi or fully for me. It wasn...

Once you've taken it up the road it'll have warmed up a bit and the plug swop you mentioned would have them firing on all 4

I would try leaning no 3 right off whist it's ticking over just to be sure it's oil smoke and not fuel smoke.
