In the middle of restoring the B1 I bought new in 77'. Used it from 77 to 81ish then took it apart for some reason and only just getting round to start putting it back together. Everything needs refurbing. I bought a US b1 import as a doner for some of the bits that have gone astray over the years a...

You need to stop any crud ending up in the cylinder. Chasing or re-cutting the thread or cutting then helicoiling will create swarf.
The only safe way to do it is taking the head off.

That one was £20k. Nice placing of the paperwork to cover the seat cover crudely stitched back together. Those pics make it look a lot better than it is. There was also the german delivery miles only one with 71km on the clock which was for sale at 35k Euro.

They only have the later chrome closed off ones. As do all the other likely candidates I found so far. Both types have the same part number so guess the one I want was superceded by the chrome one but trying to keep it as it was when I bought it in 77.

14mm spanner cylinder head open top flanged nut wanted

14mm spanner cylinder head flanged open top nut wanted for a very early Z650 B1. Part number 92015-076
On this model only the outside four were chromed domed/closed. I need one of the inside ones if anyone has a spare?
Alternatively anyone know where I can buy a new one?

Thanks, Warren.

Thought about hydro chrome? Should be someone in your neck of the woods that can do that. I had a 650 headlight rim hydro chromed. Results were excellent. Good thing about it is that it can go onto any material so dents scratches etc can all be sorted with primer / filler. If you give them a piece t...

I don't know if these guys actually used the silicon when cleaning the head up or if it was whoever did the valve guides or it could have been someone before them who bead blasted the head. One thing for sure is that these guys did use grey silicon on the base and head gaskets and we found plenty of...

Took the head off this afternoon, or I should say I played Debbie Mcgee (although I have better legs) to Kev Edwards Paul Daniels, with some alarming results. After trying to inject oil and compressed air both ways through every oil channel we eventually found two blockages. One each end of the cros...

http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah34/warren453200gt/20141018_131419-1_zpsa38c05f1.jpg Would it be reasonable to draw any conclusions from the oil colour and if so what conclusions? It has new oil in it as can be seen from the colour on 1, 2 and cam chain. The oil added to 4 from a syringe was a...

Z1bman and all, thanks for your input. When I take the head off and turn the motor over how can I disengage the cam chain. Will it just lie out the way off the crank?
ps, Also noticed from your profile your an angler. I'm a carp and barbel man myself.

have you spun the engine over with the cam cover off ? if you do this for about 1 minute the cam buckets should be flooded in oil & should be pouring out of the side of the cam bearings. did your engine builder use any type of gasket sealer on the cylinder base or head gasket you could have som...

Okay, some further investigation with the cam cover off. This is a photo of the original buckets I replaced. Does this look like "normal" for exhaust buckets? left to right 1 to 4 http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah34/warren453200gt/20140928_1829521_zps6163fd8e.jpg Take the cam cover of...
