Re: Dual Sport

Well time has come and I'm off on Monday for a month riding on the 'other' bike. All serviced, new tyres, chain and sprockets, camping gear, fuel , water and 3 days worth of food just to be on the safe side. Have most bases covered as am carrying Epirb and Satellite tracker plus a detailed itinerary...

Rear Master Cylinder Rebuild

Ok, i have completely stripped and painted the rear brake master cylinder for my Z1000 A1. I have a repair kit in hand and am at the stage of re-assembly. The old plunger is on the left and the new one on the right. How do I get the seal on without destroying it. Obviously it goes on but its very ti...

Re: Dual Sport

That looks a great and enviable trip, how long would that take you?

Wouldn't mind doing your trip either but have to be on two wheels just to calm the soul. Planning on about 28 days for this trip with a few breaks over east to catch up with family and friends. Longest day is just over 1100km.

Re: Dual Sport

Must be an amazing feeling being miles away from civilisation, here we've got break down recovery, but you must plan for weeks before you set off out. Respect. We're pretty lucky these days, I always carry an Epirb and on longer trips I usually get hold of a Spot Tracker which allows others to foll...

Dual Sport

Anyone else dabble in Dual Sport bike riding ? Along with my 2 Zeds I've often had a Dual Sport bike parked somewhere nearby. I enjoy getting out and about escaping the rat race and away from the normal travellers. In my time I've had a few BMW's, a couple of KTM's and one XR600. All have been probl...

I'm lucky enough to have a cross beam in the shed so I can use a pulley to lift the rear end up.

Re: Period Ride

Had to get a new tyre and tube for the rear, thought may as well get the shop to do it, shouldn't have bothered, not holding air. Want something done nowadays best of doing it yourself !!, Got the airbrush out to touch up two scratches from putting the engine in. That went well, feathered it in nice...

Re: Period Ride

I have been slowly plodding away in the back ground on the the old girl. I do a bit of Adv riding which takes up a bit of shed time and having to earn an income to pay for these bad habits doesn't leave to much idle time. have the engine in frame now, sadly a few scratches so ave bought an airbrush ...

Re: Rear wheel spacers [again]

You're a legend thats exactly what I need RGH. You wouldn't have measured the one on the sprocket side by any chance would have you ??

My one is still straight so should be good once I machine it down.

Re: Rear wheel spacers [again]

I'm having similar issues with going from spoke to cast. Looking at the centre spacer ( # 42010-039 ) the space looks to be around 70mm. Hard to see with a rule and shoddy eyes, The spacer I have is 86mm. I know the main reason of the spacer is to stop the bearings being crushed so would like to mil...
