Z1000A1 Front Master Cyclinder

I'm putting Ace bars on my A1 rebuild ( that's taken forever to do because the weather is real shite down hgre ). With that in mind I'm not to keen on using the original Kawa master cylinder because of the way it projects out so far towards the tacho. What would be a easy and suitable retro fit one ...

Re: Pick Me Up for those Up There

Hmmm...never thought you'd be the type to rub our noses in it. :blah Honestly I wasn't trying to rub it in, I figured you guys would be getting cabin fever so wanted to give you the reason why you have a Zed tucked away all ready for spring :D Honest... As for 100kph..... on this side of the countr...

Pick Me Up for those Up There

I hear you guys are having your fair share of chilly weather up there. No way could I ever fathom living in that sort of environment, even in our absolute worst weather it would pale into insignificance to what you guys suffer so thought I would give you a little light at the end of the tunnel as it...

Re: Period Ride

Bloody hell I didn't realise how long its been, definitely not a rush job this one. Finally have the motor totally rebuilt, just need to get some stainless bolts for covers etc to totally finish it. Pretty standard with the motor as she ran well to begin with, just needed a clean, broken fins repair...

Twenty Eight

Im thinking Ive stuffed up with the cams on the MkII by a link. I have set up the front cam with mark as per book 0 - 1 (21).jpg Then counted twenty eight pins back and this is where I think I've stuffed it, Ive taken 28th as the one behind the mark, 0 - 2.jpg Should it roll forward so the 28th is j...

Re: What have I done wrong

Float height adjusted the measurement method, but if the float height were the issue then regardless if the chokes on or off it would run out of fuel wouldn't it ? All other settings were same as before i stripped them.
The key here is it runs with full choke, but not at all with no choke.

What have I done wrong

Due to some stuck floats, leaking fuel etc I totally stripped, cleaned and put the carbs back together for the MkII. Including new gaskets, float needles, jets. Had the classic fight to get them back on struggling with the original airbag and ending rubbers. Fired up on choke, running ok, as soon as...

Re: Carb Stripped Thread

Yes! I have helicoiled quite a few. I prefer to do that rather than tapping m5 as you have to open out the hole in the bowl or cap and associated gaskets for clearance. All done and easy as, key thing is doing the drilling in a press to keep everything aligned and true. Cheers for the prompt Zed :up

Carb Stripped Thread

Has anyone successfully helicoiled the threads for the caps / bowls ? I have one bowl screw gone and a few on the caps, may as well sort them while fully disassembled

Re: Road Trip

Cheers for the replies. That's an excellent tip Fred about the baby wipes, will be packing them next trip. There are a few other roads to travel here but to go into more hilly territory and more windier roads its a 3 or 4 day trip to go over to the east coast. Unlike you lucky bigger who can go inte...
