Steve, go for it mate :!: I just happened to have a bit of 25x25x3mm ally angle lying about, so thats what I used :wink:
Needs a good polish tho' :!: The coolers from BSR,13 row, just right in hot weather, but to efficient in winter :roll:

Must admit, I had CB 900 F ( '81) for a while, in 1995 :cry: Not too bad a bike, got it cheap, whacked a Laser pipe on it, ripped all the useless bits of it (indicators, mirrors, rear mudguard, etc) & thrashed it for 6 months. Flogged it for what I paid, with a knackered clutch :|

This stutter just off idle is NOT uncommon. :? Assume carbs are nice & clean & float heights, etc are OK :!: U got standard air box? The 4:1 will effect it a bit. Just winding in the air screw a 1/4 turn should not make plugs sooty? This will only effect 0 - low throttle opening as u obvious...

SMR610, for about ?200 you could pick up a second hand set of Mikuni RS36's which are much better, easier to tune & add to the performance :!:
CV carbs can be a nightmare to sort even with a 'jet kit'.

OR, drill out & tap extra big, 12 or 14mm (if room?) then drill & tap out a short length of 12/14mm stud to suit your nice new s/s bolt!

Any decent engineering shop can weld it & then tap it out, but its head-off time by the sound of it :cry:

Try & google for heat resistant repair compound, there must be something available in this day-and-age :?: Some of those instant metals are good :wink:

Even with the Wiseco & a 4:1, standard jetting won't be too far off :!: If its running rich, she shouldn't take long to warm up & run without choke :?: Clean out the airbox & filter, probably full of GTX :? :idea: Try running with filter out to see wot happens, better or worserer :?:
