Re: Would this really "balance" the carbs ??
But you balance the 4 carbs with vacuum gauges to run separately but equally ? If they were balanced initially and you join 2 of them then fine. If you join 2 carbs which were not initially balanced for vacuum, then the vacuum between them must to some extent balance out at the mean point when joine...

Re: Would this really "balance" the carbs ??
Normally 3 of them are blanked off with a rubber bung, and one serves the vacuum tap on the fuel tank. So they all run “independently” as standard.

Would this really "balance" the carbs ??
OK, just thought I'd throw this out there for some opinions/comments. Was just perusing fleabay and spotted these J carbs being offered by a well known dealer of used spares. You can see that the vacuum balancing take-offs have been linked by tubes. What would be the effect of this ? Would it balanc...

Back in the day !
Just a couple of poor quality shots of my original 1981 Z1000J. The first pic has a black ceramic Laser pipe and tasteful chrome shorty mudguard (that allowed the forks to flex too much for my liking) and chrome engine cases. The second pic is after a top end rebuild following piston and bore damage...

Re: Where to buy carb kits
Over on the Triples Club website someone just posted this cutaway.
You can see a clear difference in shape, although not qualified to know whether or how much difference in flow rate there would be?
Just fitted some in my J. Should I be worried?
Keyster on the left, Mikuni right.

As above, I'd want to know why the chain let go in the first place.

Re: Regulator/Rectifier Recommendations - Z1000 MK2
That's interesting what they say about lithium batteries.
I have them on all 3 of my bikes with standard charging system and reg/rec, and not had an issue yet.
Surprised Li batteries can be sold as suitable for specific model bikes if they're not ?

Re: 1000J stalling after throttle blipped
Quick update. All pilot screws now at 1.75 turns out and the stumbling/stalling and popping issues has gone :D I don't have a colortune or such like to set each carb individually, but it feels pretty close to what it should be. Just need to balance the carbs and we should be good to roll (when we're...

A more free-flowing filter in the standard air box?
You'll still get a bit more induction roar.

In general I don't mind a bit of black/white contrast on a bike... but that's pretty horrible as it stands !
