Re: Recommendations
As advised by Al, Loctite 5980 is good but always buy it from a shop as it has a Use By date and will not go off if it's exceeded - the date is on the tube, not the box. You can get it from Halfords.

If it's the same as the US model CMSNL have them in stock for €20, Rob. It's also apparently the same part number as a GPz550D1.

Rear Astralite, or maybe a pair.
Does anyone have a rear Astralite squirrelled away, preferably gold and with a rim width of maybe 4.5", 17 or 18" diameter? Or, even a pair in any size?

Re: MK2 and J exhaust
Yes. My J has a pre-1980 Kerker pipe fitted and the header diameter is the same between models.
If you're using a stock exhaust the header clamps might look different but are interchangeable, with the exception that some early years used M6 if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Kz900 won’t rev over 3k
Well I’ve just set the valve timing properly, and checked the ignition timing. It’s still the same, all ok to 3 k revs then it splutters and won’t go any higher unless I back off the throttle then I can ease it up a bit :sad You did move the right cam, turn over the engine and then recheck the cam ...

Oooh, I'll be in Holland on the 24th-26th of July, possibly on my J! I'll have a look to see if I'll be anywhere near.

Re: GPZ 1100 - first of many questions
I would take the cam cover off and measure it in a few positions first. They're a resilient thing that I think gets changed when it's not absolutely necessary. If it's approaching tolerance or you're doing a full rebuild anyway then fair enough, but if not it's a lot of work. Also, in lifting the ca...

Re: New GPZ1100B1 project arrived today
Don't put it back to standard, it'll be awful, flexible and dull. Relive your youth and do the mods as you suggest like you would've done back in the day - trust me, it makes an average bike into a good one! (If you hadn't guessed I'm not a rivet counter - I don't get it as nobody had a stand...

Or if you want a good, crackly sound that isn't too shouty just keep the stock baffle and hoy the packing in the bin. It's the best thing you'll ever do...

If anyone is interested in the bike, I bought the swinging arm in my J from Dave and he's a proper, decent chap.

Careful, you saw what happened last time...
Nice GPz though.
Are you the chap I bought my swinging arm from, which I picked up from a railway signal box?

Welcome to the forum....
I like it, lots of period bits and not a rubber brake hose in sight. Good luck with your sale.
