Re: barrel wont fit
Hi all I'm trying to fit a z1000 a2 barrel onto a z900 bottom end and it wont fit. I thought this was a simple swap, anyone had any experience of this. Barrel seems to be tight at the back and wont slide over the front dowels. its very close but not quite. any advice would be welcome. many thanks D...
Re: Z9 A4
Agree with Johny that some spitting when cold is fairly normal. If it's still doing it when warm then my original advice still stands. Mine 'coughs' through the exhaust a bit when cold but my thoughts are are that spitting back through the carbs implies an inlet valve is opening during combustion o...

Re: Carb balancing
Is it practical to drain each float bowl separately, compare the volume in each carb, and then determine float height balance ? This would appear to be an accurate way of measurement , especially if you knew that one particular carb was set exactly right. Any thoughts / comments ? May be people do ...
Re: Z9 A4

Re: Next daft question oul coolers
I always use a thermostat with an oil cooler. Oil that is too cold is as bad for an engine as oil that is too hot. Can you buy a thermostat that goes inline say on the the banjo which only opens when the engine is up to temperature, By-passe's can be / are good ........until the stat sticks or fail...

Re: KZ1000 carbs
Unless there is physical damage , float posts broken off, stripped air screw threads etc I've never had a set of carbs that are actually worn out. The only non replaceable wearing area of the actual body is the slide bore and I've never had a carb become unusable because of that. LISTEN TO ROB HERE...

Re: Fresh build Z1A Smoking- SEP?
Mike, Get your kit on and go and put a few steady miles on it and hopefully watch the smoke clear. SEP have an excellent reputation. PJ Engineering(Wolverhampton) made the liners for my Z1B from a lump of iron, they are and have been in the club book for years. Steve +1 on the above re SEP . As lon...

Replacement Cam Chain
900 Kawa Cam Chain replacement .........I used to fit & use DID 219 FTS (S) 122 link endless chain but I can't seem to now find it anywhere for a 900 Kawa ??? the 2nd ( S ) denotes it as a Heavier Duty chain than the standard replacement chain . I can't think why they would have dropped that opt...

Re: Ignition advancer
Not sure this follows exactly but i guess that if its the standard advance unit it must then have the standard pulser coils and therefore the standard IC igniter? If its popping and miss-firing and spitting at low revs i would be taking a look at the IC igniter. Could be nearly 40 years old now. Th...

Re: Oil pressure loss !!
Hi Guys I have a Z900A4 and rebuilt the engine nearly 1000 miles ago. Everything seemed fine. Now I am starting to open it up a little bit. When the engine is hot and I accelerate from a standing start, occasionally the oil pressure light comes on. I shut the throttle and slow down and after a few ...

Re: Z1B oil cooler
Hello all I have a 1975 Z1B-900 with what I believe is a original kawasaki oil cooler? part number B006109D. My problem is that I also have a NHK steering damper, but I can't seem to fit it as it fouls the oil cooler when turning. Any suggestions on how these were supposed to work together or if yo...

+1 To the above somewhere.... . who stated- Buy a Quality Battery !!!! If you buy a quality battery & keep it topped up with Distilled Water & alway EVERY month ( if your not using it ) give it a charge at no more than 10% of it's amp / hour rating . Ensure it's well rubber mounted within th...
