Re: Carb Jetting
Usual range is 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 so you are not too far out at 2 turns but this shows you may be a little rich on the pilot and may need to go back to the 15 and retune the air screws down a little. The main thing is having the mix ratio correct which you probably have at 2 turns with that 17.5. As lo...

Re: Carbs still leaking !
So, the carbs were leaking from the tops of the bowls on my Z1000A1. I stripped them and gave them refurb using an ultrasonic cleaner. I had a bit of grief getting the float heights right which is discussed in another thread http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=45193 Finally sur...

Re: KZ1000 MkII (A3, 1979) aftermarket carb sizing advice
Afternoon chaps. I’ve managed to acquire an original, low mileage 1979 KZ1000 MkII just after the owner started stripping her for spares. She’s complete aside from the original body set and original VM28 carbs. I’ll probably end up sourcing a new body set from PmC/Doremi but wondering what the gene...

Re: loose cylinder liner.
Hi I have a 1977, Z1000 A1. Last year one of the spark plugs started to fowl up, and there was an oil leak from the cylinder head gasket. I stripped the engine down and had the cylinder bores deglazed, fitted new piston rings, new valve seals fitted and the valves reseated. I was then told that the...

Re: I need as new timing strobe - recommendations?
My 35 year old timing strobe has finally given up and I need a new one. I'm looking at a Gunson one. Anyone have any recommendations? It's not going to get masses of use. CHeers I had brilliant one many years ago ( mid 70's ) but when I emigrated to Australia some time later it went missing during ...

Re: Carburetors
Hi, z9 A4, carburetors continuously weeping out of the overflows on the float bowls. Any ideas for diagnostics would be very helpful please. Cheers Most probable it is the Float valves not shutting off properly - either the fuel HEIGHT is incorrect & too high within the float bowl, probably a D...

Re: 1973 Z1-NOISE IN MOTOR
Hi, The larger gauge 'cush' springs were free rattling in the clutch basket' .They were loose side to side by 2-3 mm. Have changed the clutch basket now.. The ones in the replacement unit are pretty tight. They will turn but no side to side play in them. In respect of the starter drive -the noise w...

Re: 1973 Z1-NOISE IN MOTOR
Crank shaft sent away for check and report.See what it throws up. So that's now a bit of waiting game now. Will install new gearbox bearings and new clutch roller bearing to current gearbox. By doing this I feel I've covered all bases. It's a bike I intend to keep and ride for some years so it's fa...

Re: GPZ1100 b2 buckets -will they be OK in a Z900 ???
I may have read this wrongly, but isn't the OP referring to GPZ1100 b buckets which run the 29mm shims on top the same as the 1000J ? Will these work in a much earlier model ? You never read it wrong ! Your CORRECT RICK - thank you . Rob ( zed1015 ) 'kindly cleared this mist I had hanging' & co...
