Engine painted
I've never resprayed an engine before, but if the black paint sticks to the engine casings like it did to my finger nails I'll be happy! Blue-tac is an attempt to protect threads and oil ways. Fingers crossed!

A great way to spend several hours on a Sunday.
Z1OC stand was ace and it was very nice to see a Z1100R in the flesh for the first time in decades.

Re: 1st class muppetry - snapped head bolt
Do you know anyone with a milling machine? I had a similar accident with my Z400J head, drilled it and the remainder of the bolt still wouldn't budge with an ezyout. A friend has a milling machine, and skill to use it. He spent ages finding the centre of the hole, then managed to cut through the bol...

Re: Z1000J Build
Just been looking at the zpower model history and luminous ruby red is a 1981 colour for European models!! I thought it was called "Luminous Passion Red"? My Z400J3 is called that colour, and I've had a look on the RS paint site, they refer to the 81 Z1000J as Luminous Passion Red too. I ...

I vote for the original red!
My old Z400J was that colour and my current project (another Z400J) will be, if I can get it working again.

Re: Z400J
Thanks Hinckley, that's good to know.
Chris, well spotted. I'd need to check my photos but I think the bike I have in bits had the battery earth lead somewhere else too.
Cheers for the info, much appreciated.

Anyone recognise this?
Another question! My first engine strip down has gone fairly easily, but I've found (or at least I think I've found) a bolt that has been sheared off. I've tried an easyout but it's not moving. I have 2 of these engines, and I'd a look at the other one and the same bolt is also sheared off- or is it...
