Re: Z1R - The Work Begins!

Hi Keith, Eagle-eyed as always! Not 100% sure but think the only real difference with US wiring is the reserve lighting system? (i.e. keeps the headlight and rear light on if one of the filaments burn out) and the lights should be switched on when the ignition switch is turned on? (mine doesn't do t...

Re: Z1R - The Work Begins!

IMG_2806.JPG Almost ready to put the tank back on but the fuel sender unit doesn't seem to be working? I'm assuming they work on a variable resistance but I've hooked a multimeter up to it and the readings are all over the place - I've also had it plugged into the loom and the fuel gauge doesn't mo...

Does anybody torque those? I think there are a large number of fasteners on an old motorcycle (or any motorcycle) where "mechanics by numbers" is not to be desired. Case screws, banjo bolts, fork pinch bolts, caliper mount bolts, anything that screws into aluminium, to name but a few. Fai...

Banjo Bolt Torque Setting

Had a look around but can't seem to find a definitive torque setting for s/s M10x 1.25 banjo bolts - seen 18NM, does that sound about right?

Cheers

After getting some silly quotes & lack of interest from local places (Nottingham & Birmingham) last year I ended up taking my downpipes and collector box along with some other bits to AGBrigg at Leeds. The person you speak to owns the business (Sean) Excellent service very professional and ...

There's a guy in borough green in kent who mostly does restoration chroming for RR, Bentley and Astons. I went and saw him when i needed some bits done. He had lots of bikebits in there for various finishes. He only does triple chrome plating because thats what all the top end car boys want. He als...

Z1R Exhaust System Chroming

Just had a quote for re-chroming my exhaust system downpipes from Central Engineering Design in Folkestone. I'm looking at £300 +VAT for the two downpipes attached to the collector box and £125 + VAT for each of the single downpipes (£660 for the lot). A fair bit more than I expected and I don't ...

I put them in an 'ultrasonic' cleaning bath - tried a 'heavy' detergent first but it covered the ally in white 'furry' stuff. Cleaned them up again and put them back in with a milder detergent - came out clean as a whistle
