Obviously I'm only slightly better that Zedi Knight at this !!
Sorted, only one set of forks now !!

Zedi Knight's Project
A few weeks ago I met fellow Zeder, "Zedi Knight" at Matlock. He arrived on a very nice looking green A4 & parked just opposite where I was stood, drinking an expensive coffee & watching the world go by !! We had a good chat & he said he was having a bit of trouble posting pict...

Re: Z1A Restoration
Loverly to see another Z1 returning to life & you don't look to be that far away from me either, (Stockport) ! I could lend you my front sprocket holder, but it locates in holes normally in the sprocket & I see from your photos that your sprocket doesn't appear to have those holes. Keep the ...

Re: ELR Z1000R2 Blowing fuses
You could try unplugging/disconnecting all those parts & see if the fuse still blows, (don't be tempted to fit a bigger fuse than what should be fitted). If the fuse doesn't blow the fault is something to do with the items you have unplugged/disconnected. Plug each back in, one at a time until y...

Re: Tappet clearances with head on bench
The other thing you might find, never done it this way myself, is that the cams may not remain in some positions without being locked in place some how, because the valve springs will try to push the lobes of the valves not being measured.

Re: Cylinder head copper washers
Providing they are in good overall condition, no deep grooves, etc, I'd just anneal them & then clean them up with a bit of Scotch-Brite, unless you really want new ones.

Re: Z1 brake disc grinding
No experience of this on Z1's, but I would imagine by the time the disc is ready for surface grinding to get a good, flat surface finish the thickness of the disc would be below the minimum service limit. To get a good flat surface also involves shimming the disc on the magnetic chuck before the chu...

Re: Repro Z900 A4 Wiring Loom
You've connected it up incorrectly. The ORANGE spade terminal should go to the hazard relay, (I'm sure it doesn't matter which terminal). The BROWN & the RED wires go to the BROWN & RED wires of the diode block & there should be a BLACK wire on the diode block, that should go to the othe...

Re: Wheel balancing nightmare.
I think you may have misunderstood me! Yes, I think you're right  Sometimes I guess you can get a wheel/tyre set-up that isn't too far out balance wise. Your picture looks like the wheel has a metal dust cap fitted. If it is metal, you could maybe try removing the dust cap & see if it aff...
