Running in - rebore and new pistons

I'm sure it is covered somewhere in the genuine manual but like a lot of things I'm having trouble finding it. I've had a 0.5mm rebore and new IMD pistons and rings fitted and have just started running in on mineral oil. My questions are how many miles are required (500?) and after this I assume I j...

Re: pistons

I used Engine Tekniks earlier this year, amongst other things for a rebore on by Z1000. Very good service, decent prices and nice people too. I supplied 0.5mm IMD pistons and Paul at Engine Tekniks was complimentary about them.

Just noticed that the seller has relisted these pipes and put another £250 on the asking price

Inner pipes for LTD Jardine exhaust

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have a decent pair of inner pipes for one of these systems that they are prepared to sell?

Cheers

Agbrigg Chrome Platers in Leeds, top quality, nice people to deal with and good value.

Re: KZ1000A1 Rebuild

I'm thinking it's going to have to be Diamond Sky Blue. Just letting the finances take a bit of a breather and then hopefully off for paint in a week or two. :D

Re: KZ1000A1 Rebuild

Thanks for the comments. To be honest this bike seems to have been fighting me all the way, will be nice to finally get it finished. Just need to get it painted, wired, ....and find a 4-2 exhaust!

Re: Base Gasket Problem?

It was the earlier post regarding re valve seal (and the comment about oil coming across the face of the base gasket) that got me thinking.

Thanks for the reassurance zed1015; you have confirmed my initial thoughts. I think I'll leave be and keep an eye on it.

Base Gasket Problem?

A couple of weeks ago I had to remove the head from my newly built engine to get one of the exhaust stud bosses welded. I didn't replace the base gasket as I didn't disturb the barrels. The head was off for about a week. When I torqued the head (new head gaskets) I could see oil oozing out of the ba...

Re: Exhausts: Any experiences of OS Pipes or Bazar de la Becane?

Thanks for all of the replies. The 650 looks great Steve. I have discussed the OS option with Roy and he is really helpful; the only thing putting me off is that he says he has to use smaller diameter downpipes than original for the Z1000 and I'm concerned it may not look right? I spent a good chunk...

Exhausts: Any experiences of OS Pipes or Bazar de la Becane?

I am looking for a complete 4-2 exhaust system for by Z1000A1 rebuild. I have given up on the holy grail of a very good or NOS system and the only two options I am left with are a new replica system from Bazar de la Becane in Dunkirk (there are made to order and take a month to make and cost £1350 E...
