Replying to a few comments, yes they do run without the Air Box and snorkel,
The air box off of the earlier Z1 will fit but doesn’t have the snorkel/filter.

For reference you can purchase a very good repro Z900 snorkel from a guy in Australia. They currently work out at about £165 inc. shipping and import tax.
So a good, used OEM snorkel is still worth good money.
